How to get paint out of carpet?
Blot up as much wet paint as you can with a clean cloth before doing anything else. Then treat water-based paint with warm water and dish soap, and oil-based paint with the solvent named on the can, working from the outside of the spill inward.
Why blotting matters more than the product
Rubbing spreads the spill and pushes pigment down to the backing, where it is far harder to reach. Work inward from the edge and change to a clean part of the cloth constantly, or you simply move paint around.
Dried latex can be softened with rubbing alcohol and worked out with a stiff brush and a vacuum. Test any solvent on a hidden area first — some strip carpet dye or damage synthetic backing.
