About PaintingMania
PaintingMania is an independent reference for house painting in the United States. We do not paint. We do not dispatch contractors. We do not sell leads, and we are not affiliated with any paint manufacturer or contractor.
Why this site exists
Painting search splits into two broken halves. Colour content is mood-board material with no LRV, no undertone, and no explanation of why a grey reads purple in a north-facing room. Contractor content is quote-bait that never mentions that the federal lead rule applies to most pre-1978 homes.
We try to be the site that gets colour genuinely right — real swatches rendered from manufacturer values, published LRV, undertone classification, and honest limits on what a screen can show you — and that treats the lead rule as consumer information rather than contractor trivia.
How we make money
Nothing on this site is monetised today. When that changes it will be display advertising and affiliate links on paint, tools and equipment, disclosed on the page. Affiliate links are prohibited on the entire lead-safe section regardless, because a page about a child health hazard should not have a commercial interest in what you click.
What we will not do
- Publish an LRV we did not either source from the manufacturer or compute ourselves and label as computed.
- Publish a VOC limit or a federal penalty figure we have not retrieved from the regulator.
- Build brand pages for manufacturers whose product data we have not verified.
- Present a general figure as though it were a product specification.
