Can you use exterior paint inside?
You should not. Exterior paint is formulated with additives for UV resistance, mildew growth and temperature movement that serve no purpose indoors, and many exterior products carry higher VOC content than the interior equivalent because outdoor air disperses it. Prep decides whether the finish is still attached in two years, so it is worth more of your time than the colour choice.
What exterior paint is actually formulated for
Exterior films are also designed to stay slightly flexible so they can move with a substrate that expands and contracts outdoors. Indoors that softness means the finish stays tacky longer, marks more easily and holds dirt.
Indoor air does not disperse solvents the way outdoor air does, so the off-gassing that is harmless on a wall outside is concentrated in a room. If you have already used it, ventilate thoroughly and keep the space unoccupied while it cures.

- Expecting it to harden like an interior enamel. Exterior films stay deliberately flexible and hold dirt indoors.
